The sushi is great, just don't change anything on the sushi menu. Don't want fish eggs, better be prepared to scrape them off. You want two rolls of one type and one roll of another? You'll get three rolls, but don't count on them getting the numbers right. Since the service is so lackadaisical (as you can read in another review), I decided to start calling in orders. The problem with this is that you have to wait while they make the correct rolls. On my last trip to pick up sushi (this was not a call in as they had messed up the last order), I asked Sara, who is a manager or co-owner or something, if I could just start emailing in my order so that there wouldn't be any miss-communication. Instead of trying to work with me, she proceeded to get her waders on and crawl down my throat. She said that they had been very accommodating to me by remaking the orders. She handed me the order printout and asked if it was correct. I'm a customer so I shouldn't have to look over your ticket to spot errors, but oh well, I humored her and looked over it. I noticed that one of the rolls didn't say inside out (rice on the outside), so I marked that on the ticket. She walked back to the sushi chef and told him, loud enough to make sure I heard, "Even though this roll is already inside out, he wants to make sure that it is. Look Sarah, 1) I don't have your menu memorized, 2) You guys love to mess up orders, 3) YOU ASKED ME TO DOUBLE CHECK! I should have said that, but I just wanted my damn food. In typical G Street fashion, the staff vanished for a bit, and my to-go box languished on the counter for 5 minutes. Since I had already paid, I asked the sushi chef if I could just take the rolls and leave. We checked the rolls and they looked correct. Sarah caught me leaving and told me that I was starting to become a problem customer and that she could refuse to serve me. I told her not to bother, that I would not be returning. On top of that, I'm sharing this little bit of hell with everyone so that they can also dodge the bullet. G Street has great sushi, but the lazy staff and horrible management are dragging down what otherwise could be a fantastic place. Oh well. (My other post on G Street's Yelp was posted the day after getting chewed out by Sara. I wrote this one thinking Yelp had messed up and not posted it , but afterwards realized that Yelp had saved it and was simply waiting for me to verify the account. Both reviews are correct so I'll leave them both up.)

Ate here in December of 2013 while on a work trip. Staff were very courteous. Ordered the Avocado Bomb and it was certainly one of the best sushi combinations I have had the fortune of eating. Certainly will go back there if in the area again in the future.

I can't bring myself to giving Shiki a five star rating. I thoroughly enjoyed every roll I have eaten here, however, I will always have a hard time justifying spending $12 - $15 on one roll (common prices for specialty rolls at most sushi restaurants). I have a big appetite and enjoy variety. I also enjoy stuffing my face, so when I come to Shiki I can expect to pay $50-$100 for a dinner for two or three of us. By myself I easily spend $30. I wish the prices were lower so I could enjoy it more often. I like the location. The restaurant has gotten a facelift in the last year and a half +/- and it looks good. The Volcano is a fun roll if you like fried. I like the Black Kitty roll, Royal roll, Zen roll, and CJ roll. There are others I like as well, those have just been my favorites. This sushi bar is located inside of G Street Bar and Grill which has beers on tap, liquor and wine, also a restaurant and live music on the weekends.

My favorite place for sushi in Grants Pass, nice variety and always tastes fresh! I've noticed service can be slow at times but it never really bothers me, I enjoy my time out, relax, sip a drink and chat. If you're in a hurry and want fast food... McDonald's?

Service was horrible! Wish I could say anything about the food but we never got a chance to try. We sat ourselves at a table in an almost empty restaurant at three pm, waited for nearly five minutes, and the woman working the bar looked at us a few times (while talking with those at the bar) before coming to pour our water. She never asked for a drink order, merely if we wanted sushi before she went back to the bar to continue texting!!!!! At that point we decided to leave and the sushi chef (who had walked past us twice without a word) said "see you later!" Am I crazy or is that the worst service ever?

Update on my original post: Picked up the takeout and it was actually good--generous serving at a reasonable price and done pretty well. So the short story is that the food was good but not great and the service was awful. I'd like to think the server simply had a bad day. But if I were the owner, she would be sooo outta there! Original Post: I am so sad that mine is the first review for this restaurant...but maybe that speaks volumes. We have loved sushi for 40 years and had hope that this final evening of our holiday would bring some delight. We ordered a spider roll (the way we check out the chef). 25 minutes later we were still waiting. We walked back to our hotel and ordered takeout, thinking that it would, at the very least, be available at a predictable time. Come on! ONE ITEM? 25 MINUTES? They weren't even busy. The waitress simply spaced out. Visit if you have nothing else to do for a very long time if the roll of the dice places this person at your table. Results still TBA on the takeout.

I'll admit it is an odd place to find such good sushi, being that it is inside G Street Bar & Grill. But, the food is so fresh and the flavor combinations are incredible.

We love their sushi. The sushi chefs are awesome (and pretty much the only reason that I didn't give 4 stars) and on most days the wait staff is nice too. But, that being said, I have gotten some really rude people who have taken my order. The food is great though, and a favorite go-to for our staff lunches. Plus they have a really good creme bruleé.
